Pre-Pointe Assessment
Prior to a ballet dancer going en pointe, it is important that the correct foundations are in place to ensure the risk of injury is vastly reduced.
Your session will begin with an educational component, where we discuss the transition onto pointe. This communication occurs between the student, parent and the teacher so together we can determine potential risk factors for injury and acquire some baseline measurements.
Your therapist will assess the following elements:
Posture in relation to the foot and ankle, pelvis, scapula and thorax
Range of motion in the foot and ankle
Functional turnout strength and range
Lumbo-pelvic control
Intrinsic foot control and articulation
Hypermobility
The foundations of ballet technique
Overall our aim is to create a program that will increase the longevity of your ballet career, whether you plan to train recreationally or professionally, we are here to help you through this journey.
